Red Carpet Watch: On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink

Today marks the ten year anniversary of the cult chick flick, Mean Girls. People love this movie for a number of different reasons. For one, it's nostalgic. Everyone - and I mean everyone - had an experience in high school with a group of girls like The Plastics. Watching the movie, brilliantly written by Tina Fey, you can literally feel the memories wash over you as the film inches onwards, which made it such a relatable masterpiece. Also, remember when Lindsay Lohan wasn't a mess? It's hard, I know, because it's been a while. And, finally, it's almost *too* quotable. Really though - how many articles today have you read with the quote, "On Wednesdays, we wear pink!" Not that I'm hatin'; it's not only my color of choice, but that moment is also one of my favorite scenes in the entire movie.

Being that it's the anniversary of Mean Girls, and that pink is my favorite color of all time, it feels only appropriate to celebrate by looking back at some celebrity red carpet moments with the signature feminine (and sometimes flashy) color. Let's start with the brightest shades, starring some of my favorite ladies, like Amy Adams, Taylor Swift, and Claire Danes:

Amy Adams wowed in this Vivienne Westwood ensemble in February of this year, stunning everyone with her style transformation post-American Hustle.

Taylor Swift's pink Carolina Herrera dress at the 2014 Golden Globes was amazingly fitting of her personality without overdoing it with her usual sparkles.

Claire Danes, at the 2011 Golden Globes, looked absolutely breathtaking in this minimalist, but statement-making Calvin Klein number.

Brights are great every now and then, but in my own world, I'm more a fan of muted tones. Let's get back to the soft and sweet pink that we know and love with pale pastels and tonal blushes on Rose Byrne, Emma Watson, and Kate Bosworth:

Rose Byrne chose this seashell pink peekaboo Calvin Klein column gown to don for the 2013 Emmy Awards, ending up on nearly every best-dressed list.

Emma Watson, immediately following her decision to lop off all her hair, made nude pink cool again in this Hakaan cut out dress at the ELLE Style Awards in 2011.

Kate Bosworth, everyone's favorite style darling, wore a (what else?!) Calvin Klein blush number to a benefit for the brand in 2010, looking casually chic with her metallic accessories.
